At first I held reserved excitement about your home but after seeing it dried in, I’m a fan of your product. First time I have seen double digits on a blower door test. Please send me the heating demand calculation for the house so we can pair it with a worthy unit that is not grossly oversized.

Just a hello. The cabin was wonderful this winter. I spent weeks at a time up there. During the cold snap that seemed to last forever, neighbors were freezing their ankles off. I was snug and cozy. The heat was even everywhere which I find amazing for space heating with no active circulation. Keeping humidity down was not a problem. I left a basement window cracked and used the woodstove on the upper floor as an exhaust vent. Crude, but effective. Humidity stayed right around 45%.
When I wasn’t there, the little Hearthstone propane stove set at 45° kept the place from freezing. I had winterized the water – just in case – but everything functioned just fine. That little stove, maximum output of 18,100 BTU/hr, is also capable of easily heating the entire cabin above 70° when it is minus 28°.
We side this spring and do the solar installation in June. Hope all is well with you.
Just wanted to let you know how happy we are with your building system package we purchased from R-Valued Homes. As owner/builders we found the construction method to be uncomplicated and the blueprints easy to understand. The construction saved us both time and money and the house is very energy efficient. We receive compliments daily. The people who see the house are always interested to learn that it was not built using conventional stick framing. They love the open beam ceilings and how open and large the interior looks.
Thank you for all your help when we had questions. It was a pleasure to have you there to help us. Also tying for the Governer's Award for energy rated homes for 2002 was the perfect ending to the project. We would recommend a package from R-Valued Homes to anyone interested in using SIPs to build a new home, and we have.

My name is Humphrey Keyes and I am the housing director for the Native Village of Emmonak located at the mouth of the Yukon river.
I was introduced to Ron Burkhardsmeier and things just went from there. We purchased in good faith that the homes bought from R-Valued homes were the way to beat this cold climate that we have here in the state and at times the barometer dips to the temperature of minus 45 or more with the wind chill.
After the construction was completed an elderly women of 80 plus had moved into the house and after about ten days of minus 15 to 20 below and with wind chill at 40 below one evening she had asked her son to bring her to the Eskimo dance practice that we attend every evening. The home being toasty 70 degrees and the weather down to -25 she didn't realize that the weather still had not warmed up and she thought that the weather had gone up above zero since that the house was warm at 70 degrees. Her son told her that weather had not warmed up yet and she was surprised that how warm the house was at the time of the cold spell.
Before the construction of these homes I was sort of skeptical, but after hearing this from an elder I am sure that these homes are made for the cold and for the climate that we have here in the lower Yukon river.

Alaska Insulated Panels (AIP) is dedicated to providing energy efficient cost effective solutions to the many challenges associated with constructing buildings in cold climate environments. Alaska Insulated Panels is a manufacturer of polyurethane (PUR) in structural insulated panels (SIP’s), utilizing state-of-the art equipment. Polyurethane is a superior foam than expanded polystyrene (EPS or Styrofoam) which is used by most SIP manufacturers.

AIP was founded to enhance and control the quality of SIPS used in the manufacturing of R-Valued Homes. The rising costs of shipping and poor quality control by other suppliers created the need for an Alaskan a manufacturing plant to supply R-Valued Homes with Quality SIP panels.
Fabrication is a process that starts with a set of building plans (blueprints) which have been developed by architects, building designers or owners. From these plans, shop drawings are created and engineered to specific geographical design parameters. Shop drawings detail all of the fabrication pertaining to the building envelope i.e. wall length and height, window and door rough openings, gables, floor, roof, and added details specified by the engineer.
SIP panels are then fabricated to the specific dimensions shown on the shop drawings and routed for adding dimensional framing lumber for top and bottom plates, corners, window and door openings, headers, electrical chases, etc. as specified and detailed in the shop drawings. Panels are then marked and numbered as shown on the shop drawing these numbers also reference the location and sequence of installation on the job site. Wall assemblies are then dry fitted and checked for accuracy. Panels are packaged by location i.e. foundation, floor, roof, east wall, etc. wrapped and banded ready for shipment.

Design Friendly: AIP SIPs can be used in almost any structure design.
Highest Fire Rating: The Polyurethane foam used by AIP is UL rated class “1”, has a flame spread number less than 25, a smoke developed number less than 400 and is resistant to attacks by fuel, oils, most solvents and other chemicals. Polyurethane is a cross-linked thermoset plastic that is highly resistant to heat, capable of withstanding temperatures of 800 ºF (427 ºC). When exposed to high temperatures, the polyurethane foam only chars, it does not melt. In residential applications, building codes require that the interior surface of all foam products must be covered with a 15 minute thermal barrier.
Structural Integrity: SIP’s are 4 times stronger than standard “2x” framed construction. When polyurethane foam is injected between two skins of standard building materials, a natural bond develops, thereby making the panel structurally analogous to an I-beam.
Energy Efficiency: Polyurethane foam has the highest R-value per inch of all the foam family, making it one of the most efficient insulating materials currently available. AIP’s polyurethane SIP’s have the highest R-values (R-8.2 @20⁰ F) per inch of all the insulating materials available in the market place today. Nominal panel sizes are 4 feet wide and 8,9,10 and 12 feet long with thicknesses of 4-1/2 inches (R-28), and 6-1/2 inches (R-44).
Time: AIP pre-manufactured SIP building envelope can be assembled by workers without extensive training 3 to 4 times faster than conventional stick framing thus saving time and money without compromising quality.
Money: Cost of total completed project is comparable to all other current building types. AIP panels are pre-cut and dry-fit (checking for accuracy) at the factory. This process reduces on site labor cost, eliminates on site waste, shipping excessive materials, interest on borrowed capital and environmental impact on local landfills, just to name a few.
Healthy Home: Helps prevent mold and mildew and blocks airborne pollutants. When a properly designed heating/cooling and ventilation system is added to a AIP SIP building system you have created the most energy efficient and healthiest building available in the market today.
